I am a person who experienced education during the Corona period. Once I heard about the phrase “gifted burned kid,” Now that I realize this phenomenon, it is not just empty talk. In this article, I will convey my views on the “gifted burned kid” phenomenon.
Have you ever seen someone with exceptional talent? Take part in every event held on campus or at the school. Perhaps they’re taking part in a mathematics pourse and also diligent in painting lessons. Perhaps he studies science in the morning and picks up a guitar at night. Yet regardless of how long you look at them, they never seem satisfied. Always feel inadequate or not enough about their achievements. Or was it even yourself who had this experience?
By the way, what is Gifted Burned Kid?
Actually, there is no medical explanation for this. Just a phrase created by society. This phrase was coined to characterize people who feel they need to pressure themselves with accomplishments. Until one day, at a certain point, this achievement causes feelings of lack and continues to make people feel dissatisfied. The feeling of dissatisfaction makes them lose interest in things that they were previously very interested in.
The thing that definitely causes this problem is pressure from society. Pressure from parents, especially in an Asian environment brings its own burden. There is no right way to convey these problems to the older generation. This newest generation is finally stuck in a toxic environment.
What should we do?
What I’m trying to say is, let’s transform this toxic environment together as the generation that most conscious of mental health issues. Give up defining the standards of success. Give up thinking that a person’s worth increases with their level of mastery. Because a person’s worth extends beyond the scope of his skills. We have to stop, break the chain of problems so that they stop in our generation.
